** Movies **

I got reminded of the movies 'Kadhal' and 'Parthiban Kanavu' after reading Suchoo's reviews on movies in two of his last postings. Movie 'Kadhal' was a well made one - no doubt. But it didnt impress me to watch it the second time (leave alone SIX times). Good - YES, but defnintely not GREAT !! However, the movie "Parthiban Kanavu" did not impress me at all. I could not even sit and watch that movie when it was telecast on TV. Just walked away - so, nothing to say on that.

Talking about good movies - I happened to see some wonderful movies last week. One was Taxi 9211, about which I have written already. Thathaasthu, Cliffhanger and Chestnut were the other nice movies that I saw last week. Sanjay Dutt impressed me with his acting in the movie Thathaasthu. He plays the role of a father, whose son needs heart surgery and doesnt have money to pay for operation. He holds people, around 30, in one of the floors of the hospital for ransom. The story revolves around numerous characters and is well pictured. It was a wonderful movie. I have seen three of Sanjay Dutt's latest movies and he impresses me with his abilities. In Munnabhai MBBS, he played his part better than what Kamal did in the remake version, Vassol Raja. Lage Raho Munnabhai was even better.

Yes, movie making is an art and calls for greater skills and management abilities. Out of hundreds of movies that are released in India every month, a few do really touch the top grade and we can feel happy and proud about that.
